Leah, Greg
Cesky (meaning beautiful) Krumlov was just that. We stayed 6 night in Cesky krumlov and loved it all. As someone else said, "Its the first time I´ve felt on holidays" which we thought was pretty true. When we were coming in on the bus, the guide said "its a pretty quiet little town with not much to do. But if you like you can go rafting, horse riding, there is a brewery you can do a tour in, hire bikes for a day or go to the second biggest castle in Czech republic." And we thought "cool!". When we first turned up the guy who gave a bit of an inroducation to the town and the hostel said that "there is not much to do. So we recomend drinking lots of beer and having sex." More good suggestions.
You will definately think I am banging on if I recount this by day so I will just summerise main events of Cesky Krumlov: 29th May: Our room is called the love shack (but at least we didnt get the Karma Sutra Room!). Had a 5 min conversation to mum thinking it was her birthday and ended up spending half the conversation spelling 'Cesky Krumlov' while dad tried to find it in the atlas. Computer time. Out for tea (while it is so cheap), drinks at the hostel and out to travellers bar where people sang me happy birthday at midnight and had absinthe shots. 30th May (My Birthday! - and Mums): Big sleep in. Rafting for a few hours with beer in between. The other raft did not have a guide and after a rapid (level 2! More like a medium current) they went down sideways and got caught and completely satchurated. Free Keg Wednesday which we were pretty happy with until a few days later greg asked how much it cost and it turns out about 400 Kr (about 25 Aus dollars for a 50L keg!). Cards at night.
31st May: Harry Potter marathon today but I abstained (as much as humanly possible) and went for a huge walk around the whole town and the omega shaped Vltava river that runs around it. Went to the Castle for a quick look and saw the bears in the moat. Just as we were having a look they started to get it on in a pretty serious way. Home made Kebabs for tea. Greg: My first beer free day of the trip 1st June: Picnic in the huge castle gardens and Castle tour. Went out for tea with Kylie, Trudy and Shaun before travellers bar and then a club. 2nd June: Changed room today because we were only originally staying 4 and upped it to 6. Got moved to the Sandwich Room (I think it is called this because you have to push the beds together!). Went for a huge uphill bike ride to the next town and a 20 min down hill bike ride home but all quite pretty.
3rd June: Planned to do Brewery tour and then horse riding in the afternoon (two things in one day! How will we fit it in???)! Went to reception and they said brewery tour was crap and that we should just start drinking beer here. Almost turned out to be true as it started raining not long after and I got completely sprayed by a car. Did not much for the day until it dried up enough to go for another huge walk around the river More thumbnails ...
