I leave for my trip in 10 days! I can't believe it really, I mean I have always known that is was approaching but now its real its here in 10 short days. I still have a lot of things I need to get together before I leave. Packing is a big one, I know I am suppossed to pack light and I know that but the packing list is huge and frightening! I have no idea how I am going to fit it all in espcially since I went out and bought too many gifts for chilren. I guess you can't really say too many gifts for these kids that have nothing but I got caught up in it all and bought more than I have room for but I don't care its worth it I will give up packing something for myself if it means that a child gets a toy that has never been given anything before. I can't tell you how rewarding it is to buy for kids that have nothing, it is the best shopping of the season or for that matter ever. I went to the library and checked out travel books for the countries I am going to and I looked crazy you couldn't see my face with the stack of books I carried with me up to the checkout counter at the library. I have a lot to read and a short time to do it. I am trying to also read the "Art of Travel" by Alain de Botton, as well as one of Mark Twains travel books, "The Innocents Abroad". I love them both and so its been hard deciding which to read. So I keep check on the SAS online forum about the trip and stuff and found one rather bothersome post about relationships on the ship. I honestly think people go into this journey with bery different expectations than I have. The see it as a booze cruise to go to exotic destinations and drink. I know that that is not what this journey holds for me. I plan on having an amazing time but my priorites lie in growth and exploration on myself effected by the people meet and the places I go. I am exicted about this oppurtunity and I am not going to let this journey turn into an easy oppurtunity to party. Anyway speaking about all I have left to do I better go. ahoy! is that what you say I don't know I better learn I think that means hello not goodbye I don't know I need to read a book on pirate lingo.

"They were to scamper the decks by day, filling the ship with shouts and laughter- or read novels and poetry in the shade of the smoke-stacks, or watch for the jellyfish and the nautilus, over the side, and the shark, the whale, and other strange monsters of the deep; and at night they were to dance in the open air, on the upper deck, in the midst of a ballroom that stretched from horizon to horizon, and was domed by the bending heavens and lighted by no meaner lamps than the stars and the magnificent moon-dance, and promenade, and smoke, and sing and make love, and search the skies for constellations that never associate with the "Big Dipper" they were so tired of..."
