Hello Everyone!!
So, I have been doing a little bit of traveling around in Armenia the past few weeks. Just on the weekends though. Three weeks ago, we had the Khash Bowl II. It was our version of a Superbowl game. Northern Regions Verses the Southern Regions volunteers. The North was victorious for the second time. I am hoping to post some pictures from that in a future log. It was great fun watching the locals slow down and stop to watch the Americans play football. Yes, there was a Khash Bowl cup that could be drunk out of. What is Khash? It is this yummy dish made from pig innards and pig feet all boiled together. Yum!! (ugh!)
Last weekend, one of my sitemates and I spent the weekend in Yerevan. I meant for it to only be a day trip but, after the phone call attempt failed and then we went to the PC office and couldn't check our email...we decided to stay in Yerevan so I could actually get some work done. I was able to make a phone call up to a friend of mine in The Republic of Georgia. That was great!
This weekend, a group of us went bird watching over in Ararat Marz. My Dad had sent me a bird book of Armenia. The Environmental Volunteers were impressed with it because it was the hardcover version of their book. We watched the sun rise on Mount Ararat and we could see three countries from Emily's front door; Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Iran. It was awesome!! Then we went down a little farther south and went to a harvest festival. Now I am in Yerevan checking some things on the internet.
As for work... my counterpart has suggested I start an English conversational club so that the students can get to know me. Also, She would like me to do an Aids seminar for December 1st, Aids awareness day. And then after that... I am hoping to get over to Baku Azerbaijan to meet up with a friend of mine. Yeah.
that's about it right now. OH! Wait!! A sitemate of mine had rocks thrown at her by some school children. Our safety and security man came out and talked with her and the police and the next day the police went from school to school and classroom to classroom and told the kids how shameful that is. Also, my host family heard about the incident and asked if I was the volunteer who the rocks were thrown at. I said no. My host brother said if it was me, that he would have gone and slit the guys throat, hung him by his ears and then cut his ears off and taken a pliers and ripped the nether regions off of him. I like that! I know that something would have been done by my family if it had been me.
Take care everyone!

Hey you!
Hello Laura,
You are so far away and it seems like yesterday that you left. I read some of your e-mails and laugh and think gosh she is getting to be one of the worldest women I know with such great travels and experiences. Well, Bryant and Stratton is still Bryant and Stratton although several people have left (I'll get names if you need me to). This is my last semester of school and life will be different for me without my school support system( yes you were apart of that and thank you so much!) Well I do have to run, I am at my intership so I will have to write you back now that I am registered although I thought I registered before. Let me know if you received my other e-mails. Hugs and kisses for ones we misses (smile)!
Hey You!
