- Pringles are for sale in every hotel mini-bar in the world.

- Political differences are more emotionally discussed than religious differences.

- TV sucks, and it's worse when you are at the mercy of a non-English speaking programmer.

- Tours like to take you shopping

- Tour food has it's ethnic qualities removed. If you want to try some good local food, leave the hotel or restaurant that the tour guide has arranged for you, and follow the people on the street, and eat where they do.

- Someone is going to teach you something that you don't know. Say "thank you" even if she or he is an asshole.

- Don't believe everything you read in your tour itinerary, or everything the tour guide tells you: it's just an opinion.

- Pastry is universal. In every country I've visited, they all love French pastry, and someone has gone to a cooking school in Paris.

- Tours isolate you in a bubble of Americana; the bubble is what will also make you feel very safe.

- The price is right on a tour. If you don't want the company, you can take advantage of the air and hotel package, skip the rest, and go exploring.
