Today we visited San Simeon and Hearst Castle in San Simeon.  The Hearst family were one of the richest in the US, and after a trip to Europe as a child the founder William Hearst wanted to replicate many of the best aspects of European culture he had seen.  Now this should be a road crash.  A bit Disney.   But actually it was very good.  Pictures of the day follow.

Tomorrow we head off to Santa Barbara, and the penultimate hotel.  Soon the road trip will be over, we have covered over 1800 miles so far, and as we travel back along the coast to LA, and flying back to the UK on Friday morning.  Amazing how quickly these trips go.
