Having spent a day on Route 66, today we moved on through the Interstate heading to Las Vegas.  A couple of stops on the way, one to a disbanded Silver Mining Town of Calico and then slightly off route to the Hoover Dam.  On the way to Las Vegas.

We had visited Calico a couple of times when we first got married, but had been a 1 hour stop over for Coffee, this time we were able to spend 4 hours there, arriving when it was fairly quiet and before the tour buses arrived.  The only thing we had to share it with where a Movie Production team and a load of Actors.  We went inside one of the silver mines and pottered around.

Leaving Calico, we put Hoover Dam in the GPS and while that meant driving to Vegas and back out, we thought it would be worth it, amazing how much that had changed in the 7 years or so since the last visit.  Not least the degree of security, going through the road block, we headed for the visitors centre.   Spending a while at the Dam, we could see how much the water level had dropped since the first visit we made the year we were first married.

Finally we headed of to Vegas - where we will stay for a couple of nights.

Hi Les
Wonderful to see. Spent a few hours in Calico myself watching injuns dance! Ah! That I was in Vegas. Enjoy the trip and don't loose too many quarters in those slots!
