Man, oh Man!  This place is just pretty amazing because it sits in the Julian Alps.  We both really enjoy places like this!  Bled is a small town built around a lake to provide a very scenic location.  We walked around Lake Bled for our first adventure.  This lake has a islet on which a church sits and it has a medieval castle clinging to a cliff to provide postcard like pictures.  The weather was perfect too...warm enough to swim yet cool enough to hike and walk without blazing heat!  We stopped a few times around the lake to have some cheese and crackers and maybe another tuna sandwich.  The walk was not that strenuous...just fun to have a reason to sit and enjoy the lake's atmosphere. 
 
We then decided we would rent bikes and head to Vintgar Gorge which was about 4 km from the town.  It was ALL UP HILL...but we huffed and puffed our way there.  The pictures will have to take it from here...the gorge was really nice and so worth the bike ride to get there.  We had a fun time racing back to town too!  (it is still with the judges as to who "won" so stay tuned for the results.)
 
Just when we thought we could not make it any further, we decided to hoof it up to the Bled Castle for a view from the top of the hill.  The pictures are a bit hazy, but it is always fun to see things from high up.
 
Our final fun moment in Bled was amazing!  We got to meet up with Krish, one of the great guys who survived the Transiberian railway with us...we even shared a cabin with him for the majority of the adventure!  Krish is just a fun guy to be around and we are SO glad we got to meet up with him again!  Thanks for the BIG RED Krish!  What fun memories!!
 
Not to top our Krish reunion, but we also saw three...not one, not two, but three people we met in Sarajevo!  Once again, there is just something about Sarajevo and the people that  travel there...  Also goes to show you that there truly is a "travelers circuit" of all the popular places that everyone feels like they must go and see.  What a fun night to sit around and tell traveling stories between people we just met a few days ago!  This is what traveling is ALL ABOUT!

We had some yummy stuff called kremna snezna rezina (cream cake) which is Bled's culinary specialty.  Basically, it is vanilla custard topped with whipped cream and sandwiched neatly between two layers of flaky pastry....we both loved it!. cool old church and castle
