Layton's niece, Belynda, went here for her summer study abroad program in May-June. She loved it and thought it was worth a trip...so, off we went. The bus ride was only about 2 hours from Athens. After we said good-bye to the Cabanas kids, we made our way (a long way) to the bus station.

We got there around 3 pm and had no where to stay (which is not like us...we usually like to find that out a few days before we go...), but it turned out to not be a problem. We stopped in a few places but they were full..then, we randomly walked into another place that had a "simple" room for us for only $35 euros. Simple or not, we'll take it! It actually was very well located but a bit stuffy...(no windows that let breezes in), but we can handle anything for a night! right?

As you will see in the pics, it has a nice peninsula for the city's center which makes for lots of coastline too. We walked all the way around the tip of the peninsula before trekking our mary way up to the Palamidi fortress. Belynda told us that it was a 827 step hike...and we believe it! Man, there were a ton of stairs to climb. Of course, we enjoyed the view and we are always glad we make the effort.

We had fried squid and a pork souvlaki (kabob) for dinner as our last meal in Greece. The seaside restaurants were really cool and had a nice vibe. You should definitely spend a night here if you have time!
