We had a day of travel to Liuzhou. It was about a 4 hour drive to get to the train station. The bus was TINY too. When we got to Liuzhou, we had about 2 hours before our train arrived. So, Terry took us to find some food. The first place he was going to take us was not very busy and smelled weird. He decided to go somewhere else. We ended up eating at a restaurant that had been in business for 5 year and NEVER HAD ANY WHITE PEOPLE! They were so excited and we had a great meal for 16 Yuan (about 2 dollars!). They gave us watermelon for free to "welcome" us as new guests. It was such a cool dining experience because it was authentic and good. We tried some rotten egg dish (literally the whites of the eggs were black, same consistency as a boiled egg, but black) which actually just tasted like egg and not so bad. Andy, a guy from the UK, also ordered some liquor that was like rice wine which had had red ants soaked in it. It was not so great...We both really liked the chili sauce they had. So much that we asked them if we could buy it from them! They gave us a neat little package of it for the road for FREE. So nice.
