Again, the drive was pretty long to Jodhpur and with our stop to see the Jain temple, we were late getting to Jodhpur. Layton was brilliant and knew the Meherangarh fort closed at 5 pm. So, our driver quickly found us a guide, drove fast to get us up the hill and we made it in the gates before closing. (mind you it was about 4:35 pm when we were trying to arrange this so not much time to spare!) This fort was a bit different because it rises up high above the city below and they continue to add on to it over time. Some parts are around 500 years old and some were just added in 1995! It was neat to see some of the differences.
Jodhpur is also known as the blue city because all of the houses in the Old City are painted blue. The region is also known for its tie-dye saris. This is not the tie-dye we all know from the 70's. It has MUCH more detail and pattern. They use thread and rubber bands to make the design just the same, but some of the design is about .5 cm big! Really cool.
