DAY 3: Touched the Ocean

This morning we woke up pretty early.  I'm pretty sure none of us wanted to spend another minute in that nasty hotel room.  Although in defense of the Days Inn, they did have a pretty good continental breakfast.  Since we had made it so far last night, we decided to kill some time at the ocean.  We headed for Bar Harbor.

We found out that Bar Harbor is a yuppy little tourist trap on the Atlantic coast.  We stopped in a couple shops and picked up a few souveniers, ate some Maine lobster (I decided I don't like lobster) and spent a little time by the ocean.  We found some seashells and Matt tasted the ocean for the first time in his life.  I was disappointed because it wasn't like how I'm used to seeing the wide open ocean, it was a harbor, obviously, and you could see land on pretty much all sides.

Shortly after, we had to get back into the car to head for Millinocket.  Kate experienced her first full service gas station.  We were all really excited when the attendant told us that the moose were out "thick" and that we should get to our campsite fast before we hit one.  Sadly, another moose opportunity went by without a trace.  We pulled into our campsite at dusk, set up our tents and had brats for dinner again (this time heated over the fire).  Matt showed us the map for tomorrow and despite that, we are still excited.
