Yes, it's a bit humid....and warm...but mostly humid.  You could go through 3 sets of clothes a day, easily.

Other than that, HCMC (or Saigon) is very Asian.  Loud, crowded, lots and lots and lots of motorcycles.  No one walks, everyones on a cycle.  No one but foreigners take taxis or walk.  Crazy gai lao....wait...that's Thai...watever.

We hit the Bin Than Market this morning and enjoyed the sights and smells of outdoor groceries.  Lots of great looking fish and a minimum of meat.  Lots of ladies grabbing you and asking you to buy something from their stall.  There's a large Hmong population, so alot of the purses look like what you can get in Thailand.  Less trademark infringing stuff, but still plenty.

Crossing the street is an adventure.  Since the Vietnamese don't walk, you have to suck it up and brave it on your own.

Our hotel is a bargain at $35/night and is really nice.  Located near a nice shopping/food area, far enough off the main streets to be fairly quiet and reasonably large.  Joe's favorite thing is the free WiFi.  We had quite an adventure getting a SIM card this morning for his phone.  We have a phone number.  We just don't know what it is...oh, wait, he just got the hotel staff to figure it out for him.

We're off to have a drink.  A little jet lagged after the 14 hrs to Hong Kong and almost 3 (due to thunderstorms in the area) to HCMC.  At least it isn't raining here now.

More later, if we don't get run over by a motorcycle!

The heat
Sounds wonderful despite the busyness and humidity. Why am I not surprised Joe was looking for WiFi?! Go figure, that made my Joe giggle! I guess being in a family of geeks does let me live vicariously through their travels.

SIM Poetry
Ahhh! Joe got a SIM card. Now I understand. I got a text message in the middle of the night. It was strange yet poetic. It woke Lynn up. She wanted to know who was texting me poetry in the middle of the night.

Have Fun!
