So it has been a very busy two days since I wrote last.  After orientation on Thursday, I went with a few girls in our group to the Luxembourg gardens and then to the Pantheon!  I got to stand by the graves of Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Schoelcher, and Victor Hugo. I was incredibly excited.  Also, they have Foucault's pendulum there, which was that scientific discovery that showed that the earth actually moves.  I'd explain the physics of it, but I'm not really up for that at 7:30 in the morning.

Then, yesterday, I went to take my oral placement test because classes start on Monday (ahhhh) and then spent the afternoon with another girl in our group.  We wandered around the 6th arrondissement for a while, and ended up at the Louvre!  yayyyyy.  It was great.  We both turned out to be art lovers, so I got a lot more out of this trip to the Louvre than when I was in high school Luxembourg gardens

Also, some exciting things happened yesterday.  I charged up my carte navigo, so I felt like a real parisian going through the metro with a card, rather than a ticket stub.  It was great.  Then I happened upon a first edition Charles Perrault fairy tale book with hand drawn illustrations that I think I will definately be going back to get.  Can anyone tell that I love literature?  It was an exciting day and the first day that I felt remotely acclimated to being here.  Hopefully that continues.
I am off to my bike tour through Paris now, so I'll be reporting on that later!
