I am like someone homeless. I'm absolutely filthy all the time no matter how much I wash, my clothes are ripped and stained,i have lost 1-2 stones and have sores all over me where flys have bit me and I've itched them off. However I'm staying in a guest house with HOT WATER and a washing machine which means I can have the first hot wash since leaving England and wash my clothes in something other than a dirty sink. Im Not that hard up compared to people around here, ive started carrying a bag if bread around to give to the stray dogs and stray humans. It is quite distressing to see some of them (dogs and humans) they are in quite a poor state. It seems to be all elderly men I haven't seen many women and no children/young men/women
This random man come up today and just outright asked if I would marry him so he could get a English visa. He was mega intense and creepy. Not surprisingly I declined his romantic request and he started shouting "I am a human!!! A human!" then later (walking up the beach) I noticed he was following me and he did this for about 1-2 miles. If I slowed down/stopped he did etc. eventually I told him I was going to get the police and walked away and he started screaming "nooo!! Don't leave me!!" It was really unpleasant.
It seems most people here are Catholics there are some nice churches and lots of Jesus shrines with models of Jesus with an agonised face being crucified which is off putting when your trying to enjoy your tea.
I went for another avyedic massage (definatly just a normal massage with avyedic in front to make it seem as though it has medicinal properties). Both times I have had to strip fully naked in front of the masseuse (women) while they watched and just lie there naked. No protecting your dignity and privacy with a towel like in England. Also the women today slapped my arse during the massage ? Part of the massage ? Abuse.
I also ended up in some slum district whilst on a walk it was really scary. There was open sewers and people living in makeshift tents/tin shacks it was absolutely filthy with really thin sick looking humans and dogs about. I have stayed somewhere like that in Uganda but it felt safe where here it had a menacing feel about it. Quite scary.
