I decided to take the plunge and eat the first real curry and rice of my life. When I ate it it was although my mouth had been filled with a thousand burning coals and my stomach had been sent to burn for eternity in hellfire. Luckily I have found Kellogg's coco pops "moon and star" shapes which I eat three times a day now..if only I could find some wot sits or pickled onion monster munch I'd be sorted.

I've moved in with the local family i was writing about. There is a newborn in the house and the house is situated right next to a busy railway and it shakes when trains go past. There are also a lot of frogs. However the house and family are nice and my room is really comfortable. If you are on a budget trip home stays are the way forward. I just asked around and found this place, it's only $7 a day which is really reasonable particularly in Sri Lanka where it's abit expensive in comparison to other Asian countries.

I've been travelling round by train recently-it's great! You don't need to pre book just turn up and get a ticket. I travel 3rd class which I find okay and not that different from second Class. I got a two hour train journey for about 60p, beat that! The lack of health and safety is fantastic the doors are just left wide open whilst the train speeds along so you can get sucked out and die. I find this quite nice in comparasion to britains strict health and safety rules and also it's a good place to sit or stand and get a good view of what's happening outside ( but only if you hold on very tight).

Ps-I just seen a spider that was so big it was literally the size of the house. Really, the whole house.
