While the days are fun and exciting, and never cease to make me seasick, they are not overly exciting...we sail from one island to another, occasionally stopping to swim, and sometimes motor if the wind dies down; thus, I'm mostly describing our late afternoon/nighttime activities.
We docked in Ios and it seemed like a quiet little port area. Little did we know that it is "the" destination for underage Americans, Australians, Brits and others to come partying. We had a couple beers on the boat, chatted with our crew, and Andy took the first of many showers off the stern of the boat....hard to explain, but let's just say that he is not shy in a "European bathing suit" (see pic). We also ran into Andy's buddy, Aman, from business school. He was there with 8 other HBS guys and docked a couple boats over from us...we would run into him several times throughout the week. For dinner, we hiked a good distance up the island to a cool local restaurant where, again, our skipper ordered for us...all local tasty fresh fish (i.e., we had to wait while the cook cleaned them). After dinner, a bunch of us went to grab a drink and then most people headed back to the boat, although Lauren and I decided to try to relive our Sophomore years in college. We started at the "Red Bull Bar" and quickly ran into the HBS guys who were really living it up. The scene was really spring breaky, but fun. Although Lauren could not be convinced to dance on the bar as most other girls were, we seemed to fit in relatively well even for a married coupl. Before getting back on the boat, we finished off with a nightcap around 3:30am with some of the crew from the 2nd boat who had arrived very late that night.
