Today we drove about an hour outside of the local town to a small tented camp in the dunes of the Sahara in Merzouga.  One of my HBS buddies, Jon Bunt, had given us the heads up that taking ATVs out on the sand dunes was one of the most fun things he had experienced.  He was definitely right.  We had a guide and each of us had our own quad.  It took a little getting used to at first, but was truly amazing once we got the hang of it.  Riding over huge dunes with nothing else in sight except more sand dunes was incredible.  Neither one of us flipped over, but both needed the guide's assistance at certain points...we finished around sunset and headed back to the hotel.  Later that night/early morning, we got up around 4:45am and made a short hike to the dunes to see the sunrise.  Definitely pretty sweet, although we were constantly on the lookout for scorpions....luckily we only saw some tracks.
