ITALIA!

ITALIA, ITALIA! The joyous shrieks of Italians and foreigners alike lit the dark streets of Florence yesterday night. Individuals wrapped in massive Italian flags; as though superman capes, the green, red and white streaming out car windows, hanging from home, and shop doors, the painted faces, the shrill scream of car horns, the sing-song of ten or so "out of tune" vocalists belting a banter into the night's sky...... Italia has made the semi-finals...... this is World Cup patronage at its prime!
Other then tracking and following World Cup and it's happenings, we have been busy meeting and talking with our new employer. The group of people we will be working with all seem great. All around our age, we have met people from England, The States, Australia, as well as the funniest Irish guy either of us has ever come across. We will basically be doing "club promotion." The hours are great, as it is a "put in what you want to get out of it" type job. It's really nice to have some money coming in... we're getting a little tired of constantly doling it out.
We met some Canadians when we were out last night with the people from work, at one of the pubs we deal with. It was really kind of funny. We were busy chatting away with some people from South Africa, when they asked where we were from, obviously we replied, "Canada." One of them instantly shot inside proclaiming, "CANADA!....we're drinking with guys from CANADA! You have to meet them!" (It was as though we'd never seen another Canadian in our lives.) So they piled out the front door of the pub, frosty pints in hand....true Canadians, and made our aquaintance. (Every Canadian we have met since being abroad has hailed from Ontario, we've yet to meet a fellow West Coaster!) Anyway, they we're really friendly guys (as all us Canadians are, right!) quickly reminded us it was 12:10 am....officially Canada day! So we had a cheers and a drink to our native country, despite the thousands of miles that lie between us....... Happy Birthday Canada!
