Today there was no dark. There was no night......eerie.
9 pm struck and window shades were drawn, one anticipates the black night offers. I have never before been reprimanded for gazing out a window.....these plane people run a tight ship, they mean business. 11 pm and I have indulged a quick glance from my pulled shade. The elderly man two rows ahead of me obviously shares my curiosity, I catch him sneaking a peak at the frigidly cold -60 degree environment we are engulfed in. Three and a half hours post take off, we have both returned to and yet to leave Canada. Settled or not we are thousands upon thousands of feet above Ungava Bay, I am slowly starting to grow as comfortable as one could possibly grow in a dark metal tube, surrounded by sleeping people...... shooting through the sky..... at hundreds....of miles per hour. At last, morning has dawned upon us, drawn shades are retracted and breakfast (as unappetizing as it may be) is being served. I have nudged Greg awake, there is something to be said about rising sun when your 35,000 feet above ground. I have never seen that golden sphere shine as it does now, this is the Atlantic.......... and we are above it. It's true. Greenland, most certainly is not green. The heavenly snow covered mountain ranges are breathtaking....so glad I switched to that window seat.
