Eric got into London Thursday morning and we left super early Friday morning for Paris. I am so glad we took the train instead of a bus, which was loads cheaper, but an 8-hour drive instead of 2 hours. We arrived in Paris around 8:30 in the morning and found our way to our hostel. Paris is a lot more confusing than London, especially with the language barrier. And the metro is nassstyyyyyy compared to London's underground.
The first thing we did was go to Notre Dame. We walked around and went inside. We decided to go up Notre Dame, which was such a good idea. We had to wait in line for about an hour and a half but it was totally worth it! Also, there was some weird dude with a creepy mask walking in front of the line freaking people out by coming up right behind them, holding their hand and just invading their space haha it was really entertaining for us all in line
After we made our way down, we explored the Cite Island and then crossed over to Ile St. Louis, which is this cute little island behind the main island. It was a classy little residential area with super nice apartments and really good ice cream! We grabbed some lunch and ate along the river looking over Notre Dame :)
After lunch, we went and toured the Conciergerie, which is a prison where Marie Antoinette was held until she was killed. They had a recreation of her cell with mannequins and period furniture setting the scene. Her cell was loads bigger than any of the others but still gloomy! After we finished wandering around the old prison, we made our way to Napoleons Tomb. They had some hi-tech car show thing going on so we just took a few pictures and headed towards the Eiffel Tower. We relaxed in the park below the Eiffel Tower before we decided to head back to the hostel since we were both beat from the day and not getting that much sleep the night before.
We went to bed early but my stupid little phone I have here in Europe didn’t understand time change so we got up an hour later than we planned. I wanted to get to Versailles by the time it opened at 9 since it gets super crowded from 10-1. We didn’t even get on the train to Versailles until 9:50 so that was kinda annoying
We made our way down the Royal Drive and to the Grand Trianon and toured that and the Petit Trianon. We got to see Marie Antoinette’s theater. It was sooo cool seeing all these places. My favorite of course was the Hamlet. That was the one place I couldn’t not wait to see! It is so cute there, I just loved it. We could have hung out around the Hamlet all-day and wandered around.
We really lucked out with a great day it was pretty warm. Plus we walked miles!!! By then it was 3 and we made our way back to the chateau to see that. Good thing was left that to the last thing to see because the line was nonexistent compared to the morning! It took us less than ten minutes to get in. Also, it wasn’t as crammed in there. It was nice to walk our own pace through there and see everything. By the end of everything, it was 5 and we were beat! We had to have walked over five miles haha in the heat! It was so fun though; I could spend forever at Versailles :)
Once we got back to Paris we were both super beat and it was still hot out haha so we got some food at the base of the Eiffel Tower and hung out
After the light show ended a little after 11 we headed back to the hostel. Paris is sketchyyyy at night! I have never felt unsafe in London period but Paris is something completely different! Like even during the day there’s tons of people sticking things in your face pretending to be deaf and following you around, begging for money or trying to sell you things every block. It’s really annoying. Plus the whole city smells like pee! You would think they would try to keep the place a little cleaner. Paris made me love London that much more, that’s for sure! London doesn’t smell like pee, people don’t harass you all the time for money and it’s easy to understand! Haha
On Sunday, our last day in Paris before we headed back to London that night, we went to the Louvre to see the pyramids
