Corfu Town (Kerkyra) is just adorable
On our second day, we got to go on the very best of the optional excursions: George's Boat. I can't even explain George, because it seems impossible that he was a real person. He is a totally dirty old man, but in the least threatening way. He started out the boat tour with a list of Greek words that have 'fuck' in them. Every time we docked he would say "wakey, wakey, time for snakey" and he assured us that eating more of the food was good for our sex lives. And those are the tamer examples that I can put here (my parents are reading this. Hi, mom!) Anyway, George took us to do some water sports (get you mind out of the gutter. I'm talking about inner tubes here). Four of us went on one together and got the shit kicked out of us. So much fun. There were also a couple of stops to swim. On the last one, Sarah cut her foot open on a rock or a clam or something, and spent the rest of the trip with a gimp foot. But she still says that this was the best day of the trip. As a wrap-up, George taught us a dance to the Greek anthem that is destined to be the new Macarena
The next day was a free day, and Sarah was laid up in bed because of her foot, so I went on a island adventure alone on a quest for a sandy beach. I ended up on a scary-ass bus ride through the hills. The roads are not really designed for two lanes of traffic, and the bus just went speeding through the little towns, inches away from walls. The beach turned out to be pretty small and populated by fat old Germans, mostly. But the water was incredible because there was a sandbar way far out and no waves, so I could sit on the ocean floor 50 feet in. Greece has the best water in the world.
Over all, Corfu was one of the best parts of the trip, and we were all sad to leave. A great way to wind down the tour.
