Torres Del Paine...a very popular National Park that has beautiful Patagonia scenery and specifically 3 peaks that are hit or miss based on the weather....after hearing so much about how I did not need to go here after everything I had already experienced...I felt the desire to go anyway! I was on a bus, still hurtin´from the night before, and going to Punta Arenas to catch a flight north, but then the bus to Puerto Natales (the gateway city to Torres Del PAine) was about to pass us on the road, so the conductor of the bus I was on stopped the other bus and I switched directions just like that....therefore, switching plans!!
People prepare for this trek for months and once arriving for days....I arrived at 10pm...hopped on the first bus at 7am to the park and began my hike! Had lovely weather, mix of snow, wind, rain and sunshine, avalaches, glaciers, deep green waters, big fluffy clouds, did I mention how much it snowed, about 3 inches in 1 hour!!!....what I expected...gorgeous scenery and met many good people along the venture. but felt like hiking alone one last time before this trip was over!
I could have foregone the hike and continued to wonder if it was a mistake, or do the hike and take what ya get....I chose the latter ....completely spontaneous and well worth every step.
