New York. Blue skies and 30 degree heat, we couldn't have asked for better weather. Not much point in describing all the highlights, since absolutely everyone has seen the city - if not in person, then on TV and in films.

So far, the best bits have been...

Wandering around Central Park, where we watched two local softball teams play against eachother. We stuck around for at least 5 innings, but didn't see a single person cross the home plate. I don't think it was a very high-scoring game! Never mind though, the atmosphere was great and it was worth being there just to hear them cheer eachother on in true American style: "Come on Larry, you're the man" and "He's yours Rod, he's right where you want him". Great stuff.

Taking the Circle Line boat tour around Manhattan Island and hearing all about its history, sites and most famous inhabitants. The views were stunning, especially with that bright blue sky. And the tour guide was excellent, even if he did spend much of his time plugging his book (Unique New York, or something like that, in case you are wondering).

Going up to the "Top of the Rock" - the observation deck at the top of the Rockerfeller Centre. Pretty much as high as the Empire State, but with the huge advantage of having a perfect view both across Central Park and of the Empire State itself. Well, the photos probably say it all.

Today's programme includes: taking a closer look at the Statue of Liberty and visiting Ellis Island then a trip to the theatre (Phantom, oo-er)! Must dash, sunny streets are waiting...
