so again...we got off the bus in Valizas only a short trip up the coast...with no real plans....we knew there was a hostel in town so we found that and discovered it was full.  this is probably the best thing that could have happened.  we went to the little tourist hut (where we are sitting now) and spoke to a really nice lady who made us a map of the town with names of people to talk to about renting our own place.  we walked down to the main street and found sara!  this was very lucky...she is a sweet uruguayan lady who rents properties to people and knits a lot.  she invited us into her home to sit down...we got to leave our big bags there and she took us to show us her one available place (apparently its busy season here right now)  the place was ok...but kinda small and sara said she was happy to give us other names of people and that we should look around.  so we set off again on a wild goose chase around town.  it was a million degrees but we persevered and it was worth it.

the town here is sandy pavement anywhere....horses and cows in front yards....people walking in bare feet.  tons of little beach huts everywhere.  we finally met claudia who showed us what has become our new home here.  its a great little casita...white washed walls...a big main room with two beds and a little table...its connected to the little kitchen with a propane stove-oven and a little dining room table.  there is an indoor bathroom but no real running water....just a well we pump outside!!! so cool!! there is one bedroom and a loft.  outside we have a picnic table and a little brick fireplace thing.  its incredible!!!! no electricity but lots of candles...its pretty much perfect.  weŽre also two steps from the beach and the main plaza.

the night we arrived we made a delicious pasta dinner and just chilled out...lauren and ainsley went for a walk through town and saw some amazing live music and cool street vendors.

yesterday we woke up and lauren graham and i headed on a bus to castillo the nearest town that has a bank cause we needed some more funds.  it was a hassle...our debit cards donŽt work...but lauren took care of business and got some money out on her visa.  we came home....graham and i went for a swim....lauren did some internet time....lauren and i bought some rice and stir fry and fresh fish for dinner.  it was amazing.  we played cards by candlelight and listened to the last of our ipods before they died.  we drank wine and then headed to the main square to catch some drumming action.  we stayed and drank at this really cool outdoor bar with little picnic benches in the sand.  we talked to some really nice uruguayan ladies.  we went dancing after for awhile which was fun.

today we all woke up extremely hot and immediately went down to the beach to swim... this beach is INCREDIBLE.  to the left are huge sand little mountains of white sand.  weŽre going to climb them tomorrow.  we had a delicious swim in the ocean and then graham cooked us some ham and eggs for breakfast.  it is overcast now so that is why we decided to come do some internet blog updating.  weŽre extending our stay here, we were supposed to leave tomorrow but its just too good to be true so weŽre staying hopefully til sunday and then weŽll head straight back to buenos aires to begin planning our patagonia expedition.

we canŽt really say enough about this town.  its idyllic.  everyone is so friendly....there arenŽt cars really...its so laid back....weŽre living really simply but we have everything we could want.  life is at a perfect slow pace right now and it would be easy to stay here for much much longer.
