Our day started around 9am with a walk on the beach!  We've learned that Maine doesn't have the luxury of many sandy beaches, but we were fortunate to find one!

This was called Old Orchard Beach and it stretches for several miles.  The number of storms on the East coast has caused the beach to disappear.  The area we walked on was with a low tide.  In another few hours, that area would be entirely under water as the tide would come in.  It was extremely foggy and visitility was only about 50 feet.  That certainly didn't deter the swimmers and surfers, though!

We then drove along Highway 9, which was supposed to give a great view of the ocean!  Although that was a rarity, the drive was still fun to experience.  Again...Mom and Pop motels were prevalent.  We arrived in Kennebunkport around 11am and it was alive with visitors.  My first main mission for this little village...was "The Best of Everything!"  It's a jewelry and accessory store that is located in this village and Naples, FL.  What fun!

We then walked through the downtown and had an opportunity to talk with a shop owner who told us that the Bush family was in town.    Of course, a drive to see their home was next.  What a beautiful location!  It was fun to see.

We did make it to Salem in the later afternoon.  I'll comment about our visit there and our stop in Boston in tomorrow's entry!  Nite!
