Saturday, August 15, 2009 - Kingston

We arrived in Kingston after traveling about 9 hours.  It was a long day, but we still had time to enjoy the waterfront and walk around the town a bit.  The stores closed at 5:30pm, but the restaurants (and ice cream parlors!) were open all evening.  We ate at a nice little bistro that had an outside patio.  (Of course, we soon learned that all the towns/cities in Canada have outside patios!)  Taking a look at Kingston from the visitors and downtown development perspective, it needs some sprucing up.  Litter was a major problem and unkempt green spaces did not add to the ambiance.  On a positive note, our waiter was very friendly and was a good spokesperson for general information about the colleges and universities in the town.  Oh!  I can highly recommend the pizza and lite beer!  I'm strictly Canadian for the next few days...and I actually had a Canadian lite beer.  Speelman's.  It was quite tasty!

I am going to try to add photos to this travel blog...but I forgot the cord to transfer photos to my computer!  I'm now taking some photos with my phone and that seems to do the trick!
