Bussed it down to Kayakoy, where the ghost town still stands from when the Turks and Greeks were swapping populations. Location of the hotel also happened to be withing a few hours hike of the Turkey Tourism poster spot, Oludeniz Lagoon, where Laurs tried her hand at paragliding.

After we arrived at Kayakoy, we boarded another private bus to head out to Saklikent Gorge. We assumed the bus driver knew where to go, being a local bus driver and all. False assumption. What should have taken an hour, took 1hr 45mins. Not happy. Got to the gorge eventually (quite spectacular) where we waded through some icy water and made our way up the river. Good fun, though the loose rocks were pretty tough on bare feet.

The next day we did a 6km hike with Bonnie and Clyde (the brother and sister dogs from our hotel) escorting us the whole way). Went briefly through Kayakoy (ghost town, world heritage site), over the ridge and then down towards Oludeniz Lagoon and the beach. Highlight of the day was definitely Laura's paragliding experience (the video from which I can hopefully upload to this site).

Water at the beach was bright aqua, but very chilly still, with summer not yet here. Pebbles instead of sand, and a nasty shorebreak also made entering and exiting the water rather tricky. Lagoon water colour was amazing, which is why its used in all of Turkey's tourism adverts at the moment.

Next stop: Kas, and the boat trip!
