We arrived in Rotorua about mid-morning and our first impressions were that it is very touristy. Rotorua is the Mauri capital of New Zealand, so there is alot of organised village tours etc, while I would of liked to go to one, the amount it cost just wasn't affordable for what it was. So we decided to buy a walking leaflet and we went for a walk along the Katuna River, we saw white-water rafters there and it made us want to do it again, so we rang around a couple of companies and booked in for the morning. We then drove to the Okataina Scenic Reserve and walked the Te Auheke track to Cascade Falls which was nice.

On the 8th we got up early to get to the river to meet the white water rafting compnay. We went with Wet 'n' wild rafting, me and alex were the only people in the boat so we had our own private trip. The river we were on is classed as grade 5 which is the highest commerical grade you can do. We dropped down a 7m waterfall and a couple of others at 4m. We got to jump out of the raft and they also got us soaked forcing the raft into a rapid. It was really good funh and we are glad we did it!
