Where I stayed
We first stopped at Elizabeth Beach, it was a really secluded little place with not much around it but the beach was nice with nice scenery around. We then headed towards Tuncurry-Forster and stopped off at Diamond Beach on the way through. At Forster we went to Cape Hawke Lookout, the carpark was 400 meters from the lookout, which doesn't sound far but when that 400m is all steps up it is quite far. The lookout at the top was worth it, it was a great view! The lake system joining the ocean.
We then drove on to Port Macquarie, we arrived about 5pm once we had sorted out the van and most importantly figured out how to put up the tarpoline (we brought new guidelines!) it was teatime
The next day we spent the morning trying to organise the rest of the trip up the East Coast as our visa came through so we confirmed our trips. Its going to be a tight fit! We then went to the free camo BBQ!!! What can I say we never miss out on anything that is free!!! It was sausage snags so Alex was happy got his meat fix! Rather strangely we bumped into a friend of Alex's called Andy and his girlfriend Lottie who we knew were travelling but didn't think that our paths would cross. We spent an hour or so talking with them, but then we had to get a move on because the best thing in Port Macquarie is they have a koala hospital and they do guided tours at 3pm everyday. So we walked down there I was very excited as we haven't seen any koalas yet! They are sooooo cute!!!!!! The hospital is also amazing and does a great job taking in sick or injured koalas and joeys. Some were so close and we got to see them being fed, others were in the trees so see if you can spot them! I have to say they are the most adorable wild animal and you just want to give them a big hug!
When we got back from the Koala Hospital we had a walk around town, I wanted to go to the book exchange as I have about 5 books that I have read and need new ones I carried them around all afternoon to then find the place and it was bloody closed down
The next morning we checked out of the campsite and once again had to do more orgainising-its never ending. We then walked around as we needed a few bits a pieces like shampoo and conditioner which Alex still donesn't understand why I need shampoo, comditioner and shower gel, if anyother woman would like to try and explain I would be grateful he thinks a shower gel does all things! We then started to head out of town and found a supercheap autos on the way, we stopped in and got some bargains for the van, new windscreen wipers, touch up paint, sandpaper and wheel trims all for under $35! Betty is having a makeover!
We then headed up towards Coffs Harbour with the plan of staying in a free camp for the night, but for some unknown reason the campsite was closed so we had to find somewhere to stay!
