At Melbourne we left Lee and Amy and headed off towards Sydney. Our first stop was Phillip Island. We had a look around and went to the beach where the little penguins come ashore everynight. We saw their little burrows but didn't see any penguins as it was daytime. We decided against going to see the Night Parade (when they come ashore) as it was a bit of a rip off and cant really afford it. We decided to go to the bottom of the island to a discovery centre and had a look through the telescope towards Seal Rocks which is about 1km off the shore but is always inhabited by seals
The next day was a long drive towards Lakes Entrance. We stopped at ta few places on the way but not much to report as there wasn't really anything there. We got to Lakes Entrance at about 3pm its a very pretty spot. It was a lovely place where the Gippsland lake system meets the ocean. The beach was really lovely, called 90 mile beach. We walked from the beach to the lakes entrance which was about 6km and allowed you to see the orginal machinery which built the entrance.
After Lakes Entrance we drove to Cooma. Cooma is in the Snowy Mountains and you wouldn't believe it when we were there but apparently there is snow in the winter. We also stayed at our first free campsite tonight, and surprisingly it was quite good there was 4 other people in vans there was we felt quite safe.
The next day we made our way to Canberra for the day. The first place we went to was Parliament House, we had a free guided tour the tour guide was abit animated but was interesting, alot had been taken from Westminster. After Parliament House we went to DFO (factory outlet) we were very good and didn't buy anything. In the afternoon we went to the War Museum, Alex absolutely loved it and I had to drag him around else we would of been there all night! There is the largest collection of Victoria Crosses in the world there and a real Lancaster Bomber. We stayed in another free campsite just outside Canberra and the next morning we got up early to drive to Sydney!!!
