I have left the beach and travelled to Bombay today - we flew which was a bit more extravagant than the overnight train or bus but I think it was worth it. It did take us longer to get to the hotel from the airport in the taxi than the flight took though!! Have been out on a boat in the harbour and seen the sun going down over the city - much like the view of any other big city! we were the only white faces on the boat though - lots of indian tourists.

A walking tour of Mumbai a la Jo today - and guess what...... we didn't get lost once!!! We went a long way and saw most of the sights that we needed to see - a few markets, the dhobi ghaats where they do their washing, had a train ride, went to the Gandhi museum, tried to go to the modern art museum (but it was closed), had ice cream, chowpatty beach. We got tickets for the cinema too, Jodhaa Akhbar, it started at 9pm and didn't finish until 1am! despite not understanding a word it was a good film and the four hours flew past! there has been some controversy over  the story apparently.....

My last day in India today and I had an extravagant afternoon...... I was on my own and killing time before I needed to go to the airport so I ended up having High Tea in the Taj Palace Hotel!! It was expensive by Indian standards, but not too bad in the grand scheme of things and I did eat my monies worth, lunch and dinner in one go all washed down with 3 pots of tea!! It was the first day of the Mumbai Boat show too so there was something to watch out of the window!

6 weeks of India are finished and I have had a great time but am ready for the next adventure......

Reading your blogs.
Sawadeekrup, greetings from Chiangrai, North Thailand. Have been reading your travel journals. From Malaysia, are you traveling up to Thailand? Just curious.
