We travelled a bit further up the coast where we went inland to the keralan backwaters - a network of canals where people live and from what I can see - grow rice! we took a boat for an hour to the house where we would be staying, a bit more like a guest house than the homestay that we were expecting but fun none the less. Went for a walk and saw the churches and rice paddies and then had a short canoe ride before dinner -  a chilled out place to be.
