Udaipur - the most Romantic City in Rajasthan

It is said that this is the most romantic city in Rajasthan...... The old town is right on the side of a lake, with hills all around it has a good feel to it. James Bond Octopussy was filmed here so we eat our dinner watching that! Have been to a painting class and to my surpirse I have managed to paint a camel!! it was a case of copying one that was drawn for me but even so I was pretty impressed!! Went on a boat ride around the lake to watch the sunset which was beautiful over the old buildings of the city. Yoga first thing in the morning on the roof of one of the restaurants was an experience - a bit chilly before the sun was out but quite fun to do yoga in the open air with the lake in view! Was good to stretch after all the time I have spent sitting on buses and trains. After the yoga two of us walked up the hill to the Monsoon palace, the palace wasn't mich to write home about, just a empty shell of an old building but the views down over the surrounding coutryside was worth the walk! On the way back to town we were given a lift by a laundry van - in the back with all the sheets! Then we passed an elephant wandering down the road, it was gynormous, the first elephant I have seen in India. As well as my painting lessons, we all went for cooking lessons - in theory I should now be able to cook curry?! It was really good, we learnt the basis of curry and then how you adapt it to make tomato based and creamy based sauces - I will hvae to practive when I get home!
