So today we woke up all bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for our first real adventure in Australia, what better place to start than Melbourne Zoo! (there will be lots of animal references!)
First of all we were quite impressed with the concession rate we got with our 'Student' cards (The story of the student card is a boring one, the person selling it to us was desperate to make the sale so didn't want proof and just sent one through! I apparently went to Uni at Queen Mary's in Ireland!! (sly as a fox!!) )
The Zoo was massive, with every kind of creature you could possibly imagine, our favourites were the Butterflies, the Elephants and the mangy little Meerkats!! [Photos attached]
We were a little dissapointed by the lazy Kangaroos, they weren't as bouncy as they would have us believe!
However quite impressed with the monkeys, the little posers! :)
As you will see from the pics there are alot of 'arse' photos....completely intentional, thats the pose we wanted the buggers to pull!
Overall, from a poor travellers point of veiw, it was a complete steal! (we didn't mean too, the lady didn't charge us for the hotdogs!)
Karma however is a bitch! We decided as it was a lovely day to walk the hour back to the hostel, but it ain't called 'Four seasons in a day Melbourne' for nothing! The raindrops were the size of grapefruits...wet is not the word!
However, we are honing in on our culinary skills as we had an amazing cuisine of vegetable soup - out of the pot (to save washing up for Steve) - for our tea!
