Where I stayed
Teton Village, Jackson Hole
Watched a really weird film last night, The Box, so managed to stay up to 11, wow!
Up early (5.50, clock picture to prove it!!) so decided to catch up on all our receipts and banking first thing – took a few hours but worth it to keep up to date.
Thought we would have one last chance to see a bear so headed off down the less used roads under the Tetons and we're about to go a huntin’ bear. Drove up the back of Teton village, nothing (except massively overpriced houses – probably hunting lodges for rich weirdoes). Drove to Moose, nothing. Drove to Jenny Lake and Hidden Falls, nothing
On the way back we past the elk refuge. Not an elk in sight or any taking refuge. These animals are taking wilderness too far, don’t they know their tourist duties J Tina did manage to get a picture of a bone in the forest, maybe a bear was near, once. No other animals in sight sadly L
Anyway we ended up back in Jackson which is a quaint town but seems to have about 80% clothing and souvenir shops. Found a restaurant eventually, Mexican, but not any better than Chiquitos in Valley Park, Croydon haha.
Took in the sights in Jackson for about 9 minutes but Tina did finally get close to a bear. More antlers, maybe they kild all dem elks for them there arches.
So back to Teton Village and our very nice suite in the hotel with the other two guests for a relaxing afternoon. Missed everyone on skype as too late back. Tina had a massage which she reckons was one of her best, then we jacuzzied on the the roof under the storm clouds wow!
Forgot to say before we headed out this morning we spent some time checking out the Tioga Pass into Yosemite which we had hoped would be open by now but they still have 4-6 feet of snow to clear first. It seems you have to carry snow chains or face a $5,000 fine so snow chains it is. No need to worry for a couple of weeks yet.
Not too much to say today, we are off to Salt Lake City tomorrow which is a 5 or 6 hour drive, so Google reckons. At least it’s mainly downhill…..
This suite in Teton has been pretty exceptional, hopefully we haven’t peaked too early J
Safe, sound and sore from massage
