Wow - another busy day. This morning we got up and drove a couple hours to Oskarshamn in order to catch our ferry ride (3 hours) to the island called Gotland. We checked into our hotel and promptly got back into the car for another hour or so in order to explore the rock formations on the other side of the island. Surrounded by the Baltic Sea, it's been cool and windy - which is normal for this time of year. That doesn't stop the Swedes, though, from roaming around in their bathing suits in order to catch some rays. It's rather funny actually...I've never seen so many men make such a concerted effort to get tan! Uew!
Ok. - back to the rock formations on the beach - beautiful. The sea is very dark blue and whole area reminds me of northern Lake Millacs, with just a touch of salt in the air
Since Todd & I had so much time in the car today we, of course, discussed if the 70% income tax they pay here is worth it? Speaking strictly of what we've seen... the roads are rare, narrow, a could use some repair. There are no shoulders and the trees come right up next to the road. They don't believe in utilizing street lights or stop lights, just lots of roundabouts and add-on fog lamps. Oh, and no police - anywhere... except the one that gave Todd a parking ticket in Kalmar. At least that's what we think it is. Funny how Todd forgot to blog about that, eh?
We also just wanted to add that we miss you and hope everyone is doing well!
