Mike and I had dinner at the front gate tonight, and as we walked back to campus, there was a light rain and a strong wind.  I'm hoping the rain returns to Zhenjiang sometime soon.  I don't really like being caught in it, but the winter was long and dry, and I'm used to muggy summers with near daily thunderstorms.

In September, there weren't a whole lot of thunderstorms here, but I remember a few, and though they weren't as intense as the thunderstorms at home, they were at least more hearty than the few light rains we had during the fall and winter.

Zhenjiang and New Orleans are at similar lines of latitude but have very different weather.  Both are hot and humid in the summer, but Zhenjiang is cold and dry in the fall, winter, and spring.  New Orleans is rarely cold and never dry.

The heavy rain is one of the things I miss most about home.  I never realized before how much cleaner things stay when it rains hard and often.  There's so much dust here.

Right now, I have my windows open, and it's so windy outside that the lock on my door is rattling.  At home, a long, torrential storm would be on the way with winds like this, but here, we probably won't get much more than a drizzle.
