What is wealth?  Wealth is not what you have but who you have!

I feel very wealthy this week as I prepare to go to Haiti.  Ben and the boys have been very supportive, never questioning my wanting to go.  They have looked at books and websites with me and shared in the excitement.  Hopefully my stuffing the house with food, washing every piece of laundry, scrubbing the house (although I'm not sure why I scrubbed the house just to leave it for them) and typing up very detailed directions will pay them back!  I had a pure moment of bliss with all the boys on Wednesday as we watched an afternoon movie.  Everyone fell asleep curled up on the couch.  When I opened my eyes it was total silence, a complete rarity!

I'm lucky to have a supportive mom who has swallowed all her travel paranoia the past few months.  My sisster-in-law is coming to stay for a few days.  The boys are thrilled to spend time with Aunt Jackie.  I even took the plastic sheet off the bed for her so it wouldn't crinkle like when she stayed over last year.

George and Stephanie who are taking all the boys for two days, after camping no less (part of my detailed instructions is for them to bathe before they come over).  All my great neighbors who have offered to check up on my house, find missing boys if needed, have my family for dinner, let us laze in their pool.  Keep an eye out for my cat!

I'm rich with friends.  I enjoyed a wonderful dinner and movie with girlfriends.  Today I was able to go on an awesome golf outing with three terrific girls.  It was filled with highs (30 foot putt) and lows (lost more golf balls today than in the past three seasons) and lots of laughs.  Great way to end the week.  Also my girlfriend who gave me a cut and color.  No roots in Haiti!

I'm truly grateful for all the support I have recieved.  More people than I imagined donated money to the Haiti Group.  My coworkers have offered supportive words.  My students have sent me emails and cards this week (being a teacher is so cool).  Random people in church have offered encouragement.  Even though I will be gone only eight days, I truly feel blessed to have such people in my lives.  I suppose sometimes it takes going away for a person to appreciate what they have at home.
