Where I stayed
Last day at Casa Marta! : (
But yes, the world keeps spinning round-- if u end up giving bread to a sad street dog, or just happily munching on it yourself.
Today I also mailed a package home! From my other visits to that wonderful place they call Serpost, or the post office, Ive learned that, like uploading pictures, you must allot a good 3 hours to the process... I really must be going mad... I had soo much stuff in that thing... The Manzana Box just wasnt doing it for me! But with mucho fuerza I managed to STUFF it alllll in... You see I bought some rugs, blankets, and a lot of other things that dont LOOK heavy but are bulky and. in fact in masses, ARE heavy! The box weighed 10.8 kg.... Would rather not talk about the obscene price I was forced to pay... But its my last box... Right? ; )
And again, the world keeps spinning round- even when you have a box so heavy that you take a taxi to go to the post office, and when you must put a nice, clear copy of your ENTIRE passport on the outside of the box for all to see.....
And ah, I have officially erased and reformatted my 16 GB camera memory card that was supposed to be for my entire trip. Maybe I havent written it in a blog yet, but my camera SOMEHOW got a virus from a computer and was ERASING my photos and wouldnt let me even take photos! I know, I know, HOW is that possible?! But as you learn, here in South America, everything AND anything is possible.
Its definitely been a bummer, and SO frustrating about my camera, but as I walked down the street grasping my empty camera, passing hundreds of coupled tourists, men selling chips and water, and a woman asleep on her vegetable cart, you really do realize, that hey, we all have our problems... and as much as we want the world to jump up and apologize, its just not going to.
It. just. keeps. spinning. round.
Hope your lives are all going well. Off to catch a bus to Arequipa. A handful more goodbyes await me... Its going to be hard to say goodbye to my Cusco family who Ive seen on and off since January! Perhaps the hardest goodbye yet. All these goodbyes are truly exhausting, a part of travelling that is often overlooked... especially when you are living in these peoples houses and they truly take you in as family. How can it not be hard?
So okay, the world keeps spinning round, time keeps ticking by... but maybe World, you could pause for a second, just a second, and let us relish in a transient moment of comfort and happiness before we´re off again in this dizzingly spiral of life?
