Show trip route
We had a wonderful time but
four days and three nights are
not enough to really enjoy your
stay We had made reservations
to stay at Honey Bear Cabin,
again. This is where we stayed
when we took our first trip to
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. We
got checked in and got to Honey
Bear just to find out that all the
electricity was off and of course
they did not know when they could
get it back on
45 minutes and it was cold. The
only heat in the cabin was a gas
fireplace which did not heat up the
cabin to stay warm enough. Hubby
was beginning to get huffy and the
smoke would have started to pour
out his ears over this...if you know
what I mean. This may be the reason
they call this the Smokies! So,
anyway, they sent us up to the Arrow
Head Trail Cabins It was a nice place
but it was not Honey Bear. We got
over it and really had a good time.
Time went by so fast, we did not get
to play one hand of cards...that I did
was it cold that night. We dressed
appropriately...so we stayed warm.
We rode the train, went into just about
everyone of the shops. Took in a show.
We ate what ever was our fancy. None
of the big rides were running because
it was just too cold. We watched the
lights come on. Saw the Christmas Tree
Light Show but did not stay for the parade
this time. We wanted to spend sometime
back at the cabin to enjoy it. Riding on the
tram back to the truck like to have froze our
you know whats. Those seats were cold!
We did drive into Gatlinburg and enjoyed
watching the festivities
pretty all lit up. We enjoyed watching all
the people walking the strip. It was fun and
seemed like laughter was everywhere. We,
also, ate at our favorite place, The Mill. So,
good! Also, we ate at a Catfish place. It, too,
was good. Hubby fixed breakfast our first
morning...he makes the best biscuits. I believe,
Bobby Flay could not win a "Throw Down" over
my hubby's biscuits. Also, hubby wanted to buy
me some Indian Boots. We could not find but
one place in Gatlinburg that had the boots I
wanted except one place and they did not have
my size. We did find and get the boots I wanted
on the way out of Pigeon Forge.
Well, it was sweet sorrow having to leave. I
would have liked to have stayed one more day.
Thanks, again, Father. The mountains and the
time spent... were beautiful!
