Marvelous Macchu Picchu

We started the Inca trail to Macchu Picchu from Cusco without any idea where we were going, no guide, just directions we got from a traveler's journal. We were seven people: myself, Alon, Benni, Shai, Elad, Valerie and Mimi all with our backpacks. The scenery was beautiful, we stopped at scenic spots to eat or for breaks, and camped outside a great little village our first night.
The second day we rented two mules to carry our backpacks up a mountain, for a certain distance. We started seeing more and more Inca ruins, such as a whole fort, and signs of ancient farming. Aside from the fort, we also saw ancient guard posts as the trail became steeper since we were starting to go down.
The evening of the third day we arrived at the sun gate, above Macchu Picchu, we couldn't see much, but set up our tents and went to sleep. We woke in the morning to magnificent views of Macchu Picchu below us in all its glory.
We spent the whole day walking around Macchu Picchu, there weren't many people (as you can see from the pictures, so it was wonderful. There is much more to the site then the postcards show, huge sun dial, agricultural achievements, and of course climbing the tall mountain we see at the pictures for a great panorama.

Fantastic experience
Glad we did the four day trek instead of taking the train
