Practically Puno

We got to Puno and rented a boat to take us on tour of this side of Lake Titicaca (about a two hour ride). The Belgium ladies, Mimi & Valerie were still with us, and so was Benni. Lake Titicaca was beautiful, the sun was shining, and the locals were out in there boats (some hid from us when we tried to take their picture).
Our first stop was on the "floating" islands on the lake, which are made of totora reeds and are home to locals who call themselves the Uros and deem the lake and its waters their property. The civilization of the Uros predates the Incas, and even though they live in what seems to us as poverty, they outlasted mightier civilizations. It seems that they live off fishing, waving and tourism.
After visiting the floating islands we visited other islands with Inca ruins, and ate home cooked, delicious lunch before returning.
Overall:
A great day trip
