Decisions decisions decisions...
When sitting down to a meal and faced with a menu full of what would surely all be life-changing delights, how does one decide what to order?
Should I go for the "Spicy fried pork with Thai basil" or the "fried chicken ankle?"
"Phat thai" or "shrimp toasts?"
"Mango sticky rice" or deep fried duck with crap fat topping?"
Well, I've always wanted to try crap fat...

But I knew this was my kind of place when we got the restaurant and were asked if we preferred sitting "inside or outside."  Sarah paused, looked around, and then asked, "where's the inside?"
"Right over there the girl said," pointing to an area partially covered by a beautiful hand-carved teak roof.
Walls?  We don't need no stinking walls?  It's paradise for crying out loud.  These people know good living.

At breakfast this morning the guy next to us was reading the Bangkok paper, printed in English thankfully, so I was able to catch up on a couple of the major headlines:

"(Prime Minister of Thailand) resists calls to step down - military may have to intervene"
But don't worry, the article went on to explain that what they see as an unavoidable military coup probably won't take place as long as Thai and Cambodian forces are engaged in battle on the border.  And as things seem to be slowing down over there, it should be smooth sailing when Sarah and I have to cross that border in a few weeks.  It's like they knew we were coming or something.

"Avian flu now found on Thai chicken farms"
You know what, I'm tired of all this "news."  I think I'll just go back to eating my runny eggs and, ouch, damn mosquitos, everything will work itself out.

* Sarah would like me to point out that one of us is not an idiot and is actually amassing thoughtful, fascinating memories and photos on this trip.  That one of us will be trying to upload some photos with descriptions of things we've done and seen that might be of actual interest to others.  I couldn't believe that she read my first two entries and said "Lane!  This is supposed to be a Blog, not a BLAHG."  Oh well, to each his own

Awesome BLAHG
Just a note to let yall know that Kimberly and I are enjoying the 'BLAHG' entries and are looking forward to photos. Have fun at the 7-11, does a slushy cost more than the around back favors? That would be funny... Nick Ader
