As I write, we are 1187 Miles from Keflavik airport--less than the distance between Stafford and Miami. The screen in the seat back tells me we will land in a little over two hours. We area flying over the Labrador Sea toward Greenland, always on the brink of day. The sun has been rising on the horizon for an hour and it appears as a sea of flame ahead to my left. Melissa is trying to find a comfortable spot to sleep. I fear there isn't one. Today's date is so close to the summer solstice, I never saw stars on the flight. It appears we flew from sunset straight into sunrise.

We had a great bus ride to Reykjavik, and our bus driver was ready and waiting for us. We were surprised by the interesting landscape and the snow capped mountains in a distance. Alter dropping off our bags at the youth hostel, we walked to downtown Reykjavik. Our first stop was Hjallgrimskirche church. A ride ten floors up to the top of the church steeple, provided a stunning 360 degree view of Reykjavic . The weather was gorgeous, and we followed up with a great outdoor lunch downtown. We then explored the history of Iceland at the national museum and learned about Vikings, Celts and all things Iceland. After checking in at the youth hostel and making our beds, some of us still had the energy to go to the pool. Overall, we are running on no sleep, and, as six o'clock nears, we are running out of energy and many heads are beginning to bobble. What an awesome day and how filled with adventure....
