18/9-21/9

It was going to be a 12km walk, and I was actually excited. I hadn't told Dave just how far or long it would take and when I told him on the train on the way in his face didn't look exactly pleased. It was well worth it and not that difficult (mostly). We started back to front, so from Montorosso to Riomaggiore, and did the hardest bits first (read, lots of stairs). The waters around this area are such a great colour blue, and the terrain of steep terraces covered in vines or olive trees is really spectacular.
The walk was fairly crowded, so you were never alone, but the views and getting to explore the little towns in between were great. We were both quite tired by the end and to sit down and enjoy a big cold beer was great. By the time we got back to Clive it was dark again (the sun is setting early these days) and we had another early night.

Our plan was to go to Munich via Innsbruck, which took us via Verona, so we decided to stop there for a bit of a look around. Verona is actually a really pretty place, there were a heap of people about, but it was still really nice. It was cold here too, about 15 degrees, what had happened to summer!! We got a last slice of Italian pizza (just not the same out side of Italy), and wandered around for a little bit. We found somewhere to sleep overnight and then the next day after a beautiful drive through vine covered hills and castle topped mountains we headed to Austria.
