Up to Kotor

Our original plan was to stop at Budvar for two days, but like most plans this changed. We drove into Budvar and back out very quickly, it was absolutely packed full of people cars and high rise buildings. Instead we backtracked to a little place called Sveti Stefan. This place was gorgeous and it had a little island just off shore that before the war had been turned into an exclusive hotel. It didn't look like an ordinary hotel though and the buildings on the island were all older in style. The place smelt of money though, I mean people who could flaunt it about. The little beach we went to lay on was as usual covered in deck chairs and umbrellas, and when we laid our towels in front of these next to the water a man came and moved us on, behind the chairs! The people about the beach were all tanned and beautiful in expensive clothing and swim wear.
We couldn't find a good spot to free camp so we went to a camp site close by, it was in a nice location but only had out door very cold showers. We took a walk to the beach down a big hill and ended up at a nice small rocky beach. We were contemplating staying for another day here but they were charging 10 Euros a chair and the rocks were far too pointy to be lying on all day. We did drive in to check out Budvar's old town. It was worth the chaos, to get lost in the alley ways for an hr or so. The old town here had been destroyed just like in Bar, but it had been rebuilt completely, and it was all very nice. We didn't stop to see anything else and continued on the road towards Kotor.
Kotor is an old town set in southern Europe's biggest fjord, it is a truly spectacular place. We found a place near the water to park for free and wandered into town. It was a hot day so we found somewhere to sit and have a beer, and were very happy with the price, 3 Euros for a liter! We wandered around the town all afternoon and stopped every so often for a beer and a rest. There weren't too many tourists around either which we were surprised, but glad about. We had decided to climb up the fortress behind Kotor, all 1500 or so steps to the top. It was hard work, but it didn't take us too long and once we were at the top the views were well worth it. We had taken lunch with us, so we found a nice shady place and chilled out for an hr. The walk down was a hell of a lot easier and this time we got to see everyone else huffing and puffing their way up!
