Toady we visited the salt mines in Wieliczka. The tickets were about 18 Euros each so we were hoping it was going to be worth it. The mines had been working since the 1300's and had left around 200 Km's worth of tunnels and caverns under the ground. We saw 2km of this and the obligatory tour took 2.5hrs. Some of the rooms were quiet interesting, especially one with an underground lake and another with a chapel which was huge. In the chapel everything was pretty much made from salt, right from the walls to the chandeliers. They had a lot of sculptures made out of the salt rock, and a few other bits and pieces, and while it was good, it wasn't 18 Euros good. So unless you have a real need to go, don't.

We drove the mountain road into Zakopane after demolishing some fast food (had a craving) and saw some absolutely stunning country side. Now all of you polish people who said 'why do you want to go to Poland' it is because you have a very beautiful country!
It was an amazing drive, and would have been made much better if it hadn't rained spoiling the views. Zakopane is your usual snow resort town, lots of shops and accommodation everywhere with snow capped mountains looming behind you. Hopefully the clouds will clear and we can go exploring tomorrow.
