3/2/09-6/2/09
We ended up staying in Cafayate for 4 days, it was a really nice place to chill out.  One of the days we were here we did a trek along Rio Colorado to a water fall (yes that right another waterfall).  We got a taxi to the beginning of the river and after refusing a guide we prepared ourselves to get lost.  This we did on about 4 occasions.  It was a really pretty valley with the river running through the middle.  The trail crossed the river several times where we were able to cool off.  After about 2hrs we made it to the waterfall.  It was about 10 meters tall and had quiet a lot of water streaming down.  The water was freezing though so it was a quick in, stand under the fall get a picture and get out!

Besides Dave almost scraping his toe off (yes we were wearing thongs) we made it back safely.  We ended up walking with two Argentineans on the way back and were wondering how to get back to town when a man with a very old dilapidated Ute offered to take us for a small amount.  We weren't sure the thing would start but thought it worth a try.  Well the track back to town was manly down hill, and the Ute didn't have to start.  Once the road became flat the driver tried to turn it over, and after 5 minutes with no success we waved good bye and walked the last 5 minuets in, all for free, we felt quiet lucky, and just a little sorry for the driver!

Besides the trek we just hung about, read some books and chilled.  Cafayate is a wine region so we went to a vineyard to taste some of the local produce.  It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't recommend the local wine to anyone.  We also tried our first Argentinean Steak here, very yummy and cheap.
