Wyoming was a beautiful drive. Lots of mountains and forests. It was a beautiful day as well so that made it even better. On the way we drove through Big Horn National Forest. We got our first up close experience with snow. Bryce of course had to make a snowball..which somehow took me down in the mud. We also watched the temperature go from 70s to 50s in a matter of minutes just by climbing to a higher elevation.
When we got to Cody we decided to try out another state park, this one was called Buffalo Bill. When we drove into the park we couldn't believe our eyes. This place was the most beautiful location we have seen yet. Bryce said it was the most beautiful place he may have every seen or at least way up there on the list. The tent site was right on a lake and snow top mountains surrounded us. The only negative thing was the wind. We had to anchor the tent down with rocks so it wouldn't blow away while we went to town.
After we set up camp we headed into Cody which happens to be the Rodeo Capitol of the world, or so it claims. They have a full on rodeo every night of the week so of course we had to check it out. It was complete with broncos, cattle roping, youth steer rides, barrel racing and the big bulls. We had a great time. It was Bryce's first rodeo so we made sure to sit behind to shoots so he could see up close how everything goes down.
After the rodeo we headed back to our wonderful campsite. We decided to sleep without the rainfly on the tent so we could look at the stars. It was a crystal clear night so the stars were amazing, we even saw a shooting star. It was very cold, around 44 degrees. We orignally said we wouldnt sleep outside if it was less than 50 but that looks like we will have to revise that setting. We just have to bundle up a little more.
