We are at the train station waiting to leave for Salzburg.  I tried to board a train that was going to Vienna.  Silly, that is where I now am!  A conductor saved me from getting on the train, sitting down and then waiting to go no where!

Vienna was great!

More tonight.

It is tonight, here is more.

The train trip was fun.  We boarded the train in plenty of time, but a lot of compartments were already occupied or had reservations indicated.  We walked down the train car and found one with only one seat taken.  We claimed some space, but I wanted to check things out.  I walked back down to the reserved compartments and notice one was for handicapped - at least that is what I thought I read.  The other one was reserved for Damen - which I thought was women (my grasp of the obvious is sometimes amazing).  However, it could have been for a family with the name of Damen. The conductor just happened to be walking by, so I asked him about the signs.  He said it was reserved for ladies.  I asked him if that excluded me, cause I am rarely accused of being a lady!  He laughed and said, yes, even I could sit in the compartment.

I through some stuff on the seat to claim it and ran back to get Judy.  It was a no smoking compartment, so that was even better.  We got nice window seats and settled in.  This train even had electrical outlets so you could use your laptop or whatever....

Two other women joined us and we just chatted up a storm.  We found all about lots of things Austrian and the nice places to visit.  I asked about the train from Salzburg to Lindau to see if it went through the Alps.  She said most certainly, in fact she will fly into Zurich just to take the train and see the mountains.  So, that should be fun when we do that.

Our conductor came by later to stamp our ticket and he was excited to tell us about his trip to Florida.  He started in Miami, went to St. Augustine, Tampa, St. Pete and then Key West.  I think he thought it was as fun as I think it is in Austria!  He asked if I was behaving in a ladilike manner, and I said I did not know what a ladilike manner was.  He was so nice to laugh at my jokes.  I know I can be trying... as do all of you reading this.

Anyway, we made it to Salzburg in about 3 relaxing hours.  We got off the train and managed to find our way to the Crown Plaza hotel.  It is only about a 5 minute walk from the heart of everything.  We walked down to the river and had dinner at the Sacher Hotel - yes, another one in Sazburg.  We ate there yesterday in Vienna!  What a neat trip.

Attached are some pictures.  More to come, this hotel has free internet!
